At 8:30 am on 10 November, Li Fei, Mayor of Xiangcheng City, announced that Xiangcheng WtE Power Plant, which had undergone three years of construction and is located in the Vein Industrial Park of Zhengguo Town, Xiangcheng City, was formally put into operation. Leaders from 26 public and private entities including City Mayor Li Fei, Xiangcheng Municipal Government Office, Urban Management Bureau, Natural Resources Planning Bureau, Housing and Construction Bureau, Transportation Bureau, and Zhengguo Town, as well as Cao Debiao, President of CNTY, attended the opening ceremony.
The power plant is a key investment project implemented by Xiangcheng Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, which is constructed and operated by CNTY with an investment of RMB 469 million for the first phase. The plant has two 400t/d incineration lines and one 18MW condensing turbine, which can process 800 tonnes of household waste per day with a daily power generation of 432,000 kWh. At present, Xiangcheng produces about 600 tonnes of household waste per day, which can be fully treated by the power plant.
Waste to energy is a technological change to the traditional waste treatment method, which is of great merit and benefit for not only present day, but also the future. The completion and operation of the Project marks a new chapter for Xiangcheng's 3R waste treatment, and will play an important role in saving local land resources, improving human environment and realising green development.
